China had already opened the world’s newest massive airport designed primarily to accomodate tourists who will watch this year’s summer Olympics.

In just under four years, China constructed one major structure after another as they bid and won the right to host the Olympics.

Dong Zhiyi, deputy general manager of the Capital Airport Holding Co., declared the project “the pride of the Chinese nation.”

With rapid growth and development which engulfs the powerhouse nation, there was clearly a need for a new airport. It’s old one, which opened during the millennium celebration, has already reached it’s limits and potential. Long queue’s and often delayed flights are already a common problem for this huge nation.

“Approximately 250,000 Filipino troops joined American forces to fight in World War II, but too many of these heroes are still being denied benefits,” said Barack Obama, US Democratic presidential candidate.

The Senate Veterans Affairs Committee already has passed a broad bill that includes the benefit measure. The full Senate has yet to vote on the legislation.

Sen. Daniel Akaka, a Hawaii Democrat and a US veteran of World War II backs the Filipino veterans bill. Akaka himself is a WWII veteran.

Back when the Philippines was still a US colony, US law mandated that all Philippine citizens owe allegiance to the US.
