Ginebra officially stole Junthy from Red Bull for two draft picks.
The Cebuano native of Salazar Institute was initially on trade rumors before the conference began. It came to a point that Valenzuela was to be traded for outside gunner Sunday Salvacion.
The Kings now relegated Rodney Santos to the reserve list to accommodate Valenzuela in their roster of active players.
“We will miss Junthy. He’s among our original players and a key ingredient in our success. But just like the other trades, we’ll find ways to make up for his absence,” said Red Bull coach Yeng Guiao.
Junthy is one of the players Red Bull acquired from the amateurs upon entering Asia’s first professional league. Now, only Mick Pennisi stood as the lone remnant of the original lineup.
Ginebra has also acquired back the services of Fil-Am Alex Crisano and Chris Pacana. The Kings gave up Mark Macapagal to Coca Cola in the offseason.
