NBA All Star 2012

It’s the time of the year again when basketball stars descend and give mere mortals a once-in-a-lifetime hardcourt experience.

So take a back seat and enjoy the ride…

This year’s protagonists are:

East All Stars: Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade and Dwight Howard

East Coach: Tom Thibodeau of the Chicago Bulls

East Reserves: Chris Bosh, Luol Deng, Roy Hibbert, Andre Iguodala, Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Derron Williams

West All Stars: Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Andrew Bynum

West Coach: Scott Brooks of the Oklahoma City Thunder

West Reserves: LaMarcus Aldridge, Marc Gasol, Kevin Love, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Russell Westbrook

Notable players missed at this event: Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett

Snubbed: Josh Smith

The dunk fest should include last year’s participant and should defend his title in the final against this year’s two best dunker. C’mon LBJ, give in and win it. Something to cherish even if, again, you fail to win the O’ Brien trophy this June.

Why didnt they include Jeremy Lin into the show? C’mon Linsanity is everywhere but in the moon.

And then the unexpected happened.

The dunk contest was a dud! Super dud. C’mon, let the fans vote who should play the dunk contest. We want LeBron and a Blake Griffin standoff as well as DeRozan and JR Smith.

Kevin Love  burned the hoops from across the rainbow territory against Kevin Durant. Sorry KD35. But dont worry, you won All Star MVP honors with 36points, six rebounds and seven assists.

And the biggest mistake of all, LeBron James!

LeBron just showed he shuns the limelight come closing time and elected to pass instead of stabbing the heart of the Black Mamba during the last play which could have tied the ballgame or just simply win it for the Beasts of the East.

He didnt even took notice of the players beside him, Carmelo and Deron. What were you thinking LBJ?

Kobe passed Michael Jordan on top with an all-time 271points. Jordan had 262. But it came at a price as Jordan Brand endorser Wade hacked Bryant during a play which resulted in a nasal fracture according to early tests.

Dwyane Wade tied His Airness with the only triple-double game played in an All Star with 24points, 10rebounds and 10assists.

The game was pretty much open during the first half as teams traded fastbreaks and flashy slams. But come the second half, slowly the East buckled up for work.

Even as the West closed the third with a 12point lead, the blue-laden East All Stars tightened-up the D and drop bombs from the arc, three of which came from the King.

But costly turnovers did it for the East. LeBron hesitated at one point, made a crosscourt pass which was intercepted by Griffin.

So LeBron, its just an exhibition game but being cast as an All Star means playing like an All Star.
